Dr. Towbin graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
biology. While at Santa Clara University he was awarded the Bolton Award for the Most Outstanding Biology
Student. Dr. Towbin continued his education at the University of California, San Francisco School of
Medicine where he graduated with a Doctorate of Medicine with Honors. He was elected to the Alpha Omega
Alpha Medical Honor Society during his second year of medical school and continues to be an active member.
Dr. Towbin completed his General Surgical Residency at the University of Washington, Seattle 1983-1988 where
he was Chief Surgical Resident for two of those years. His education in science, medicine, surgery and
humanities continues.
Dr. Towbin has been an active member of the medical staff at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center since 1988
and has held a number of administrative positions including Chief and Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Towbin joined Evergreen Surgical Clinic in 1992. He is currently the President and Chairman of the
Board of Proliance Surgeons, Inc., which is one of the largest surgical practices in the country. Dr.
Towbin is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He was recently invited to serve on the Board of Examiners of the American Board of Surgery. He was also
named as one of the “Top Docs” in the Puget Sound by Seattle Magazine. Dr. Towbin has consulted for Pacific
Vascular, Inc. since 1992, interpreting noninvasive vascular ultrasound.
Dr. Towbin’s interests include snowboarding, hiking, growing orchids, military history (WWII-Pacific),
digital photography, and playing chess with his daughter.

University of Washington, Seattle- General Surgical Residency (1983-1988):
Extensive Clinical experience in general, thoracic, vascular surgery. Special interests in minimally
invasive surgery, hernia, gallbladder, breast, colorectal, lung, esophagus-reflux, cancer-all types,
and complex surgical/medical problems.
University of California, San Francisco- Doctorate of Medicine (1979-1983):
Graduated with Honors.
Santa Clara University-Bachelor of Science in Biology (1975-1979):
